![]() ![]() Adventure time pilot date series#The series follows the adventures of Finn (voiced by Jeremy Shada), a human boy, and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake ( John DiMaggio), a dog with magical powers to change shape and grow and shrink at will. It is also a great parody of fantasy tropes, classic fairy tales, and especially video games (mostly Zelda and Mario).Adventure Time is an American animated television series created by Pendleton Ward for Cartoon Network. Overall I think the pilot is very fun and captures the core of what the series is! The pilot shows a lot of potential for a fun show of wacky adventures in a fantasy show while still taking time to appreciate the smaller things in life. Finn getting a pep talk from Abraham Lincoln on Mars was a funny random moment that doesn’t go on for too long. I could see their canonical meeting happening in a similar way. Its fun to see Jake and Lady meeting for the first time. Don’t really like this voice for her either. PB even in season one is a lot less of a stereotype. As well as his drum set in the background! I feel basically the same way about Princess Bubblegum here. Its cool that they already decided this early on that Ice King’s powers were tied to his crown. He serves his purpose here but is nothing special. Ice King is much more sympathetic and quirky even in season one. Ice King is more of a one dimensional hammy Saturday morning cartoon villain here. Lady’s friendship with Bubblegum is also more highlighted which wasn’t featured as much in the series. Marceline doesn’t even appear in the pilot (she was created after), and yet she is much more of a core member of the cast. ![]() While she is featured more prominently in the first few seasons, she still was never really a main character. Lady was clearly envisioned to be more of a central character based on her prominence in the pilot and the series pitch bible. While I prefer her speaking in Korean as Niki Yang, I do think the noises she makes here are pretty funny. She is much more emotionally stable no matter what the circumstances are. Lady Rainicorn is not given a ton of characterization here, but her excessive crying is not in line with the character we know now. My favorite is Finn calling Ice King an oxymoron. The quirky slang like mathematical phrases are here and are pretty charming. The core and tone of the pilot is carried over to the show. Its fitting that Finn and Jake, the core of the show, are the characters in the pilot who are the closest to their incarnations in the series proper. Jake is basically the same character! Towards the end Jake wants to just “talk about their feelings” instead of look for a new adventure which is something I could see happening in any season of Adventure Time. And I like the voice he has here, Jeremy Shada’s brother captures the same feel of the character. Adventure time pilot date full#Full of energy, quirky one liners, and a desire to do good. Pen (Finn) is very similar to how he is in season one proper. And eventually the Fionna & Cake spinoff! But first we must start with the original pilot that aired on Nickelodeon… I am planning on reviewing every episode, short, and season of Adventure Time and Distant Lands. ![]()
